Literacy Lighthouse, our local school chapter of the National English Honors Society which I sponsor, is kicking off a contest next Monday, the first day of November: 15 Days to Twilight. The idea is to feed the enthusiasm for Twilight, encouraging students to read and respond to the hit vampire series.
We’ll have daily Twilight trivia questions, giving away Twilight buttons and stickers to winners. Students can also enter a contest creating a digital book talk or writing a poem in response to Twilight. Five winning entries will air on our intranet television to the student body and receive movie tickets—the movie opens November 15—and a Twilight tee shirt.
I look forward to sharing the winning entries and, hopefully, the success of our first big literacy promotion. I can’t wait to see the movie!
